About Me

The above photo shows me monkeying around with two of my friends. I love to play! I wanted a very authentic picture of me to share just being myself! I am in the middle - my colleague Sarah (who I run the workshops with) is on the right.
As a mental health counselor, I partner with horses to help my clients move through stuck points and patterns in the here and now. Horses have a very ancient and intuitive way of being which offers us a chance to work with the incongruencies we develop during our lives. Working with horses helped me show up in my life more grounded, more aware, and with intention... AND I don't have it all figured out! I am on a journey like you and strive to understand myself a little better each day to improve my relationships, work/life balance and just my general way of being.

I have been a public school teacher for most of my adult life, finally retiring in May 2024 from a 30+ year career filled with so much connection and many beautiful memories. Showing up for kids, especially adolescents, has been my pasttime, no matter what state, what school, or what content. I specialized in helping kids open up to reading for pleasure and become lifelong readers. I cherish my years as a teacher. I offer an expertise with adolescents from 3 decades of having the privilege of being around young people.
For three years, I worked as a forensic behavioral health therapist in the criminal justice system in Boulder. This kind of work was extremely rewarding whether a person was brand new to the criminal justice system or not. Being part of a client's journey from day one to graduating from their programs after months and months of hard work brought me great joy and I am so grateful for my experiences and connections.
Lastly, at 50+ years of age, I have officially become horse crazy! Who knew? Just a kid from Upstate New York, I had no experience with these incredible beings. Now, in the second half of my life, I get to partner with them to help others. I feel so honored.
